Fun Things to do in Albany this Summer
The Capital Region is the perfect place to enjoy the summer with great weather and plenty to do. For decades we've noticed a few extra free parking spots in our office buildings in the afternoons as many sneak out to enjoy all the Capital Region has to offer. So, if you're planning on leaving the office a little early, here are some of the things our tenants are likely heading out to do.
1. The Track!
Everyone loves the Saratoga Race Track... it's an exciting, fun, and a beautiful event that everyone in the Albany area can enjoy. Being only 40 minutes from Albany, Saratoga is just a quick drive away. Since almost every race begins around 1pm, you even have the option to do a half day in the office and make it in time for the race.
2. Lake George, Saratoga Lake, & Sacandaga Lake
Take your pick! Whether you have a friend with a boat, own one yourself, or choose a boat rental, within no time you'll be cruising on one of our Upstate New York lake options (each one as great as the next). You're less than an hour from being on the water with your favorite post-work beverage in hand, so what are you waiting for?
3. Golf
Saratoga National is known for being elite, but you also have access to Capital Hills, an outstanding municipal golf course right in Albany. If you're lucky to have a friend at any of the local country clubs like Schuyler Meadows, Albany Country Club, or Shaker Ridge (to name a few), then make sure you hit em' straight!
4. Hike
Are you an aspiring Adirondack 46er? If so, you've got access to some of the most beautiful peaks in the country all within a short two hour trip. Working hours in an office can put strain on your muscles and your mind, so getting out into nature and re-energizing your body is important for productivity. So yes, you may have to take a "Summer Friday" for this one, but believe me, it's worth it.
5. Eat
Last but not least, of course get out early to eat, drink and be merry. Obviously, you'll need to check out some of the best restaurants in the Capital Region. What's great about the Albany area is that it's filled with hidden gems and incredible eateries. It's more important than ever to support local businesses during this time, so make the best of your lunch break (or early dinner) at one of the areas amazing local restaurants such as Chianti Ristorante, Toro Cantina, or Brown's Brewing Company.
